Remember back when I posted a sneak peek of some of the things I was making for Christmas? Well now that the gifts have been received I can share them with you! This one is really easy and is the perfect gift for the Grandparents. I love the way the pictures look mounted on canvas and plan on making a few for our home.
First I painted the edges on the canvas black and even painted a bit of the front black too. I just wanted to make sure that no white would be peeking out in case my photo wasn’t trimmed perfectly. You could use any color that would look nice with your picture.
Once the paint was dry, I trimmed my pictures to fit and then painted mod podge on the canvas before gently placing the picture on top. You’ll want to press the picture down from the middle out just to prevent bubbles.
At this point I feel like the project was done and looked great. I’ve seen other people paint the top of the picture with mod podge. I don’t think that’s necessary unless you are looking for a bit of texture. I might have done this had my pictures been glossy but they were matte and I think they look better without the extra layer.
All in all, this project is super easy and I think the results are pretty awesome looking. You could easily add a little hook to the back to make it easier to hang or just lean them against the wall on a mantle.
What do you think? Have you been working on a photo projects lately?
