I’d say out of all the Christmas gifts I made this year, this one is one of my favorites. It’s a bit time-consuming but fairly easy to do. I made this one for my Mother-in-law who is quite the book person.
First I used a box knife to cut all the pages out of a book. The easiest way to do this is to first cut off the book cover so your just left with the spine and pages. Then cut the pages from the spine. This step doesn’t have to be perfect since your folding up the paper anyway.
Next I used hot glue to attach the paper to the wreath. I used a grapevine wreath from here. I found this type of wreath easy to use once I cleaned off as much of the leaves as possible. I think the grapevines allowed me to push the paper down between the layers and thus it was pretty secure. Though I’m sure you could use other wreaths.
The trick that seemed to work for me was to fold the paper so it sorta looked like a flower, then put hot glue on the bottom and then stick down in between the branches of the wreath. Sometimes I glued the sides of the paper together just to help the pages stay open better.
Once I had the entire wreath covered in book pages it was time to make the bow. Basically it’s just a bunch of loops glued together. Once the bow was dry, I just glued it to the wreath. Simple enough.
I love the way this wreath turned out and I think it could be pretty cool made with comic books or a favorite book.
