So a blue hair girl taking pictures of herself on base must be really suspicious. During this shoot there was a guy standing in his bedroom window watching the entire time. Okay so maybe he was looking out at the water but it was for a good twenty minutes and I honestly would be surprised if he was just taking in the views. He wasn’t discreet about it either. I don’t know about you but if I was trying to keep an eye on someone I would have at least sat in a chair and watched them from the corner of my eye.
Then there was the time the cops drove up on the sidewalk/grass to ask me what I was doing -_- Because heaven forbid they step out of their cars without trying to be intimidating. Joel was with me the time the cops came. Luckily I’m not an idiot and just answered their questions (#whiteprivilege I wonder if they’d let me off with just a “remember your ID next time” if I wasn’t a white girl) but man did I have the urge to be a smart ass. “Why yes officers, I am trying to gain all the secrets of this base with my camera that is pointing out towards either the water or a bush with me standing in front of it. Also, I always bring my two year old son with me on my secret missions. In addition, I dye my hair bright blue in order to help me blend in with the locals.” Seriously. I don’t want to be paranoid but I swear the lady who walked by with her baby is the one who called. Now I would totally understand if I was standing in front of the front gate or if I was taking pictures in front of the military vehicles or some other AUTHORIZED PERSONAL ONLY areas but a hill with a bridge and water in the background is not one of those places. I guess I better start finding a place off base to take pictures. Anyone have any recommendations in Bay Ridge? Preferably somewhere I won’t be harassed.
